The Mission of Boy Scouts
It is the mission of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) to serve others by helping to instill values in young
people, and in other ways to prepare them to make ethical choices over their lifetime in achieving their full potential.
The values we strive to instill are found in the Boy Scout Oath and Law.
Who can join?
Boy Scouting, one of the membership divisions of the BSA, is available to boys who have earned the Arrow of
light award as a Webelos or have completed the fifth grade, or who are 11 through 17 years old.
How can you join?
To join you must meet the requirements stated above and agree to the ideals of the Scout Oath, Scout Law,
Scout Motto, and Scout Slogan, and complete an application. Please come to a meeting for more information and an application.
Benefits of joining Boy Scouts
The ideals of Boy Scouting are spelled out in the Scout Oath, Scout Law, Scout Motto, Scout Slogan and the
Outdoor Code. The Boy Scout measures himself against these ideals and continually tries to improve. The goals are high and
as he reaches for them, he has some control over what and who he becomes.
There are several benefits to becoming a member of our Troop. Most of our members are close friends and have
a great time when we get together. Of course we also have a common interest, and we hope to further our cause.
